1. I have a story but it involved me and my friends. Can we all win?
Sorry, we will only count the person who submitted the story as having an entry. However, you can encourage your friends to submit their own stories so that they can have a chance to win too!

2. Can we pick the design of the prize if we win?
Yes you can! You may choose from our newest collections of backpacks and camera straps.

3. Do I have to be Filipino or be in the Philippines to join?
This is open to everyone! It doesn’t matter where you live, as long as you follow the mechanics for entry, then you have a chance at winning. However, for the theme of local travel and culture, we are specifically referring to travel in the Philippines, as this is where PDP is based.

4. How long will it take for prizes to be shipped out?
We will message the winners to ask for your current shipping address after the they are declared. Once a confirmation e-mail has been sent out that the items are being shipped, you can expect your prize within 2-3 working days (if you live in the Philippines) or 1-2 weeks (if international).

5. Where can I purchase PDP products?

Some of the things we saw at last Saturday’s Tumblr Fair 2! Punchdrunk Panda, along with Hodge Podge and Madhouse Manila, were event partners for the day.

The area was full of fashionable bloggers who exhibited their own personal style, as well as booths by online stores carrying funky yet very affordable designs! Attendees got to interact with their favorite Tumblr bloggers and shop to their heart’s content. A program was also held, hosting games such as Bring Me and a Coachella-inspired dress-up contest, with awesome prizes given out to the lucky winners.

Props to the organizers for the successful event! Sooo many people dropped by! ‘Till next time :)

1a. How would you describe your art (style)?
Feminine and organic.

1b. Do you have any favorite materials to work with?

2. What have you been up to nowadays?
Been preparing for my first solo exhibit! It’s opening this May 11 at Vinyl on Vinyl at The Collective.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Beautiful pictures of beautiful women, haha! And also beautiful design, typography, basically anything beautiful!

4. What do you think about the current state of art in the Philippines?
I think it is booming! Before, art is rarely considered a career, and now i’m glad that mentality is slowly disappearing.

5. What can we expect from your future designs?
Bolder illustrations and designs!

6. Any parting words of advice for our readers? (Can be anything: for those who want to pursue art, general advice for personal growth/motivation, etc)
It’s soooo cliche, but really, practice helps a lot. I’ve had a couple of times i thought i forgot how to draw because i was too lazy to keep working and practicing. And it’s not a nice feeling, haha :( also, it’s okay to be inspired, just don’t copy! Add your own spice to your works!

(Overseas) entrepreneur; white cheddar popcorn junkie; bread and peanut butter is my life.

1a. How would you describe your art (style)?
• This is honestly tough to answer cause I don’t know my personal style. I never really went through formal training on graphic design so I learned by mirroring whatever inspired me. Sometimes, I fail and sometimes, I get lucky.
• However, I really like child-like design (i.e. kite runner) and if I had more spare time and talent, I would love to be a children’s book illustrator. I think that’s a cool hobby! :)

1b. Do you have any favorite materials to work with?
• I love my Bamboo tablet. I was cheap when I bought this, so I got the cheapest Wacom tablet. It’s still serving me well.
• I used to love colored pencils but boy, it’s been so long since I held one.

2. What have you been up to nowadays?
• I don’t think it’s a surprise that I’m not based in Manila. I’ve been pretty transparent about it.
• I’m based in Toronto, Canada and after I completed my MBA at Queen’s, I was lucky enough to fool people that I can do brand marketing ;) I manage Orville Redenbacher’s, a popcorn brand, and despite it being detrimental to my waistline, I am loving every single day of it!
• Not to say that I don’t love running Punchdrunk Panda. I’m lucky to have committed staff, business partners, and volunteers to help me out as well. I love helping local artists. I love looking back at how Jen and I started, and how PdP has evolved. Being able to establish Punchdrunk Panda is probably one of my greatest achievements to date and I’d like to thank everyone who has been supportive of it.
• Other than work, I love adventures. I love challenging myself mentally and physically. I know. I sound crazy. But anyway, this is the reason why I join races and run like an energizer bunny, and partake in adventure-type travels. By the time this is posted, I’ll probably be biking in French Pyrenees. I read that it’s not an easy ride but I’m really looking forward to the scenery and meeting new people! Just recently, I signed up for this marine bootcamp training – it was probably one of the toughest things I had to do, physically and mentally, but I’m glad I completed it. Not too sure if I’m going to do it again but if I do, it’s something I definitely have to train for.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
• Passionate and optimistic people. When I talk about inspiration, I’m not only referring to art. I’m referring to my life’s inspiration.
• How I got to where I am right now is not exactly a straight path. There were definitely a LOT of bumps and detours along the way… but then I read books about start-ups, hear my manager’s story on his path to success, and stories like that, and I’m inspired to just keep. on. going.
• Relating this to art/PdP, I fancy Maxim Cyr (http://www.behance.net/recycledwax), Meomi (http://www.meomi.com), and Rob Cham’s works.

4. What do you think about the current state of art in the Philippines?
• I think we’re starting to see a proliferation of young artists right now. I may be oversimplifying things but typically, artistic people would just go to ad agencies, where most of their creativity gets overshadowed by the size of a brand logo. But I think local artists are becoming gutsier now – looking for other opportunities to showcase their creativity.

5. What do you like best about working with PdP OR What can we expect from your future designs?
• Oh, I own PdP so my answer will be very biased. I am the best boss ever! Kidding!
• I think PdP still continues to surprise people and I’m always looking forward to how consumers react to our product launches. Facebook likes, Tumblr reblogs, etc. excite me!
• Rather than talking about my future designs, I’ll just talk about future PdP designs. Definitely, designs from PdP/PdP’s artists will be more inspirational. We’ll launch designs that are centered on personal growth, promoting the Philippines, conserving energy, and all that tree hugging themes. I know, it sounds boring and limiting but PdP will prove that inspirational messages don’t necessarily have to be bland.

6. Any parting words of advice for our readers? (Can be anything: for those who want to pursue art, general advice for personal growth/motivation, etc)
• Pick one of these 3 mantras and you’ll be in a better spot tomorrow:
o People make time for the things they want and make excuses for those that they don’t
o Flow to the work
o Rough it!

2. Manic Mayan by Kit Kat Pecson and Patricia Prieto (I remember watching their video explaining their inspiration for this design hihi! I just love the color of this shoes)

Over a year ago, i got myself a pair of skimmers form Punchdrunk Panda. I haven’t had the chance to make an outfit post wearing it and i seriously don’t know why. Thank God I found these photos of me while waiting for my sister in UST last year — and yay, my skimmers can be seen. Anyway, PdP’s skimmers are the best! It’s lightweight making you feel like you’re barefoot! Plus, it’s really comfy. You could walk all day in the mall not having to worry about your feet getting tired (and sometimes sore) at all.

I’ve been abusing my pair ever since i bought it. I don’t know how and why but it really matches anything I wear when I dress up for school or on a regular day. If only you could see how my skimmers looks now. Haha! I remember wearing it the first time in school and my friends were all like ‘omg i love your shoes where’d you buy it?’. Their designs are really nice that’s why happy pandas like me can’t get enough of it.

Abbey is a 20-year-old overachiever, entrepreneur, visionary and aspiring designer.

1a. How would your describe your art (style)? I could say my style is more vintage and retro but minimalist. I like to use specific color palettes but most of them lean towards warm colors. My style when it comes to doing artworks has shifted over the years but as of now (and hopefully, up until I do legit work) it’s mostly, as I said, vintage-ish and type heavy.

1b. Do you have any favorite materials to work with? Watercolors! I always unleash the inner child in me when I do watercolor works. Other than that, I’ve been dabbing into digital design so Photoshop is my best friend at the moment.

2. What have you been up to nowadays? I’ve been submitting the last few requirements for my Advertising course this term, gearing towards going full circle with my blog, attempting to do some personal branding and freelance design work at the side this summer, and of course, working with PdP! 2013 is being good to me so far.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration from? Mostly from other artists. It amazes me how dedicated and passionate people are with their craft. It’s not an easy thing to do, I’ve realized. I also draw much inspiration from the people around me, most of which are as creative (or even more) than I am.

4. What do you think about the current state of art in the Philippines? I actually think it’s going great! Art has been becoming an important element in our culture nowadays, which is nice. I like how people prioritize it more now than before.

5. What do you like best about working with PdP and what can we expect from your future designs? I love PdP’s idea of featuring local artists in their designs. It gives more exposure to the Philippine art scene and being able to combine it with the fashion and retail aspect of PdP merchandise makes it totally work. As for my future designs…I hope you’ll all love it! I’m sharing parts of me in those designs and it’s like they were gotten out of my sketch pad, which means they’re pretty important, lol.

6. Any parting words of advice for our readers? Hmm…keep yourself motivated in doing the things you love. Be passionate enough to work hard and stay humble. Just keep doing what you do, find ways to improve, and you’ll get to where you want to be. ☺

Rob Cham is an illustrator, designer and comics artist. He has done work for various people. He currently works at Create.ph where he shares a studio and does things for money. You can check out his art and junk at http://behance.net/robcham or http://robcham.me.

1a. How would you describe your art (style)? It’s comic influenced. I like working with that pen and ink style. Big influences on my style would be Moebius, Katsushiro Otomo, Daniel Clowes, Adrian Tomine, Tomer Hanuka, Asaf Hanuka, and Dave Johnson.

1b. Do you have any favorite materials to work with? I work mostly with digital. I’ve grown accustomed to it. But for sketches, ideas, drafts, and depending on the project, I’m comfortable with pencil and brushes for inking, but color process is all digital these days.

2. What have you been up to nowadays? Doing freelance illustration work for various people, I work at a design studio called Create.ph where I design websites and do various things as a day job. It’s actually something I enjoy and like doing so it goes along with the art stuff I enjoy. I recently am working on contributing to different comic anthologies, my own comics, and also am trying to get something done for Pepper.ph. I have this side project called Portrades where I draw my friends who happen to be artists and in return I hope they give me a portrait, too. It’s busy fun times.

3. Where do you draw your inspiration from? Comic books, animation, and the internet. Everyday I devote a time to just browse the different blogs and artists I follow and look for new work I might find interesting. If I see something I like, I save it or bookmark it so I can go back to it again for inspiration.

4. What do you think about the current state of art in the Philippines? I think it’s a mixed bag. I haven’t seen enough of it to have a definite all encompassing statement, but with what social circles I’m in, I’d say it’s doing pretty well. I still feel like I haven’t broken in properly into the art scene, but I want to? So far I have been trying to break into the comic scene more than anything. It’s something I’m more passionate about.

5. What do you like best about working with PDP and what can we expect from your future designs? I think what I like about working with PDP is that I’m working with friends? You guys happen to be people I like doing business with. It gives off a friendly atmosphere, and well, I get to contribute to this with a group of artists I happen to look up to and respect. Also money. Exposure is a neat thing as well.

For future designs, I guess whatever I’m into at the time will influence whatever I’d make for PDP. I hope that they’d be marketable?
